Packing furniture properly is essential to ensure its safe transportation and storage. Whether moving to a new home, shipping items for a client, or storing pieces long-term, professional packing techniques help prevent damage such as scratches, dents, and breakage.

The process begins with disassembly, if possible. Removing legs, shelves, and detachable parts makes furniture easier to transport and less prone to damage. Each component should be wrapped separately using bubble wrap, foam padding, or moving blankets. Hardware, such as screws and bolts, should be placed in labeled plastic bags and securely attached to the respective furniture piece.

For delicate and high-value furniture, additional protection is necessary. Glass tabletops should be wrapped in foam sheets and placed in sturdy, custom-built crates. Upholstered furniture should be covered with breathable, waterproof materials to protect against moisture and dust. Wooden and metal surfaces require protective padding and edge guards to prevent scratches and dents.

Finally, secure all packed furniture with high-quality packing tape and straps to keep it stable during transport. Labeling boxes with handling instructions, such as “Fragile” or “Handle with Care,” ensures movers take the necessary precautions, reducing the risk of damage.
